We had a beautiful 118 mile ride today from Austin Minnesota to La Cross Wisconsin. The morning started out with some fog as we rolled out across Rich farmland enjoying a tailwind for a change, making great progress through the transition to the eastern half of the country with the addition of pine trees and rolling wooded Hills.

At our lunch break we then got on a 40 mile rail-bike trail along the river.(see the two videos). The final third of the ride was over some spicy climbs, finishing out crossng the Wisconsin border and the Mississippi river which as we rolled into La Crosse.

This ride clearly transitioned us from the Western half of the nation to the Eastern half in terms of terrain and geography.

I would imagine the rail trail is a dream ride, is it? Or is it more difficult to navigate because the leaves etc? Is it smooth as glass or bumpy?

You do a great job documenting this amazing journey, Doug…you’re such a great speaker, and your photos are beautiful! Couldn’t be more impressed!! So proud of you! 💕

Jane

Doug, what did you do to train for this epic long adventure? You rock, love the pics and videos and enthusiasm!! Cheers!

Way to go Doug! Loved the pictures and summary of today’s ride, such pretty scenery.

28 Days!!! You're getting a spectacular view of our great countrysides & we're really enjoying your blogs, pics & videos. Nice diversion taking the bike-rail. How useful those old railways have become. We really enjoyed the rail-bike trails outside the Hanscom AFB in Lexington, MA. We made a rail-bike excursion with my sons & a bunch of our Royal Rangers down to Boston & back. Stay strong! 👍👊🚵‍♀️

The Shelton v Alcaraz 4h28min epic 5-set battle pales in comparison to one day of yours. 👍👊🚵‍♀️

Go Doug go! You look rested and ready to go. I would like to see a video right when you finish one day. How many hours a day are you riding? When is your next day off. I love this. I wonder if I could do it???

Gordon

I especially loved your photos and videos from your trip yesterday. Question: what was it that? How do you undertake this trip?

Gordon

My question was most of the: what was it that had you choose to take this trip?
