A big day of riding today across the Badlands of South Dakota. Before we did so though we passed through Box Elder, the home of Ellsworth AFB and the future first B-21 Raider base!!🏴‍☠️🇺🇸🇺🇸💪🚀

About a third of the day was spent riding through Badlands National Park which was remarkable for its desolate beauty. I had never been here and was really struck by the uniqueness of the rock formations and terrain. The balance of the ride was long, long straight roads to the horizon. We had mostly good tailwinds and hot dry weather.

We stopped in Wall SD for lunch and took a spin by Wall drug, which is the biggest tourist trap in this part of the state🤣 In Badlands national Park, we saw mountain goats and prairie dogs, which are very prevalent. These prairie dogs are very resourceful creatures.

I also drank 10 bottles of water while riding just to stay hydrated! We are hearing that tomorrow will be mostly headwinds, which will be a very different experience than today…😳

Cheers

Jay

Nice to restart with a tailwind after your break. Great pics of the scenery! Keep going strong 💪 one pedal pump at a time.🚵‍♀️ We stayed overnight at Ellsworth AFB after visiting the Monuments during our excursion.

Good luck in the headers tomorrow, that wind sounded brutal today, glad it was on your tail!! Great photos and videos, thanks for sharing your ride. Looking forward to your next post!

Heard of the badlands but didn’t recall where it is or what it looked like. Now I do! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Keep strong through those headwinds on day 23!

So very cool! And I thought across the state was a big deal (still do 😜) but nothing like this. Wowza! I’m loving the updates from Kelly. But I finally saw how to a subscribe and comment! Enjoy this trip of a lifetime!

I had a great day exploring the southern Black Hills with your group on Wednesday! You’re an impressive bunch of folks - it takes so much courage, perseverance and flexibility to do what you’re doing! I was honored to spend the day with the seven of you!
